Criminal Investigations
The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division (C.I.D) serves the citizens of Taylor County by conducting criminal investigations into serious felony offenses. The C.I.D. is lead by Chief Investigator Capt. Ron Rice and is staffed by professional law enforcement and civilian personnel who are dedicated to bringing cases to a successful conclusion.
Investigators within the C.I.D. investigate crimes such as robberies, homicides, sexual assaults, home invasions, crimes against children, illegal drugs, burglaries, and thefts are among the many categories of crimes investigated by the C.I.D. Investigators secure and execute arrest and search warrants in relation to their cases. Investigators within the division are highly trained in processing crime scenes, identifying, handling, and packaging evidence. C.I.D. also handles all Internal Investigations dealing with complaints against Taylor County Sheriff’s Office employees. The C.I.D. tracks and registers sexual offenders and sexual predators within Taylor County. The division is also responsible for maintaining the evidence vault and vehicle compound.
The C.I.D. works closely with outside agencies such as A.T.F., D.E.A., F.B.I., U.S. Marshall, F.D.L.E., State Fire Marshall, State Attorney’s Office, Perry Police Department, and many other law enforcement agencies.
The C.I.D. also heads the Taylor County Drug Task Force which is staffed by personnel from the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and the Perry Police Department. The task force is made possible by federal grant funding applied for and received by the Taylor County Board of County Commissioners and under the direction of the Sheriff of Taylor County. This Task Force plays a major role in fighting drugs in our county.
