Coastal Area Operations Unit

The Coastal Area Operations Unit provides law enforcement to the fastest growing area in our county, our coast. With it’s almost 50 miles of coastline and numerous canals, rivers and waterways Taylor County’s coastal community presents a special challenge to patrolling deputies. The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office has met that challenge by increasing our law enforcement presence and developing a closer relationship between the sheriff’s office and the community.

The Coastal Area Operations Unit also utilizes two boats to patrol our coastal waterways. These boats aid the sheriff’s office in enforcing boating laws, aiding boaters in distress, conducting search and rescue operations and patrolling waterfront properties. Patrolling these waterways by boat gives the deputy a view of private property that is simply not visible from a patrol car. The primary goal of the Coastal Area Operations Unit is the safety of our residents and visitors whether on land or water.
